ACC School of Special Needs Education offers the course(s) to build awareness and impart strategies for managing an individual with special needs. Individuals who may find the course(s) especially useful and relevant are educators for children with special needs, caregivers and parents of children with special needs.

Frequently-Asked Questions

A shadow teacher provides support for the student throughout the school day.  The shadow teacher supports the student in many ways, including filling in the gaps that exist in the learning process, helping the student build self-confidence, promoting interaction in the classroom, and ensuring the student stays focused and on task in the classroom. The shadow teacher helps the student be prepared and organized for class, enabling the student with the approaches for optimum learning.

This is done through identifying the child’s educational needs, increasing independence, reducing negative behaviours and facilitating the relationship between the child and class teacher.
